Born in Fukui, Japan.

Pianist Yumi Takagi has appeared as the featured soloist with Tokyo Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, Hiroshima Symphony, Nagoya Philharmonic, Kitchenette-Waterloo Symphony, and Victoria Symphony,Costarica Symphony among others.

Ms.Takagi is active on chamber music, having performed with the Penderecki String Quartet, Canadian Chamber Ensemble, and as a resident pianist at the Takefu International Music Festival from 1994-1997. She has given numerous recitals in Japan, Europe, and North America. Her 1998 CD of music by Schumann,2002&2006 CDs of music by Famous Piano Pieces has won critical acclaim.

Ms Takagi is also a dedicated educator. She is currently Professor of Music at Fukui University and was a visiting Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University in 1995-1996. Ms Takagi earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and continued her studies at the Demoed National Music College in Germany.
